This is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.
I think that IS the stupidest iAccessory I've ever seen. Surely someone is just squatting at a no-show booth.

If they do announce, and release, at WWDC anyone buying a MBP within a month or two before may also get a discounted price on Lion.

Turbo Boost effectively lets a processor speed up when it's not using all of its cores by 'shutting off' the cores that aren't in use. Off the top of my head the i5 3.1Ghz can Turbo Boost to 3.4Ghz while the i7 3.4Ghz can run to 3.8Ghz. The real world difference is relatively small but can be worth a couple of frames a second in a game or a few seconds off a benchmark.
Incorrect. Turbo boost is "dynamic overclocking". Depending on the current number of cores being used and if additional processing power is required, the CPU will slowly increase the clock rate for the currently active cores. It'll do this incrementally until the thermal operating limit of the processor is reached.

I do it to heat my room... oh, and cure stuff too. ;)
haha, that is so true! I had a much smaller bedroom last year, and I swear when I had my iMac folding it made the room a couple degrees warmer.

I've read through several different things online and can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I'm going to purchase a 13" Macbook Pro here in the next few weeks and was planning on purchasing AppleCare coverage with it. However I have no Apple Stores near me. I do, however, have two Authorized Service Providers within ten miles of me. Do the Authorized Service Providers honor the AppleCare protection? If the HDD crashes, overheating problems, battery issues, etc will they fix it for free under my AppleCare plan? Or would I have to send it through the mail to Apple and have them fix it?
I've read differing views online. On Apple's AppleCare page it says "Apple may provide service through one or more of the following options: carry-in service (to Apple Retail Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers), customer drop-off (to UPS stores in the U.S., for iPod and iPhone only), direct mail-in service, onsite service (for desktop computers), or Do-It-Yourself (DIY) parts (so you can service your own product)." I wasn't sure if that meant you can get it repaired (at your cost without voiding the warranty) at Authorized Service Providers or if it meant that the ASPs will honor the AppleCare coverage and fix it for free.
Thanks for your help...

can anyone confirm that the UConn (or CCSU) bookstores are selling leopard at this discounted price? If so what do you need to buy it (student id?) and is it available today or in a couple months or something?

OWC is making a Mac Pro PCI Express SSD aren't they? I haven't heard about it in what seems like a few months.
They are doing lots of things. They have been talking about the SSD firmware updater for OS X for ages now and it still does not exist. I guess the PCIe SSD requires relatively lots of work while the market for it is small. It may come some day.

...and you thought it was difficult to get an iPhone 4 now. A three-week waiting list? Ha. Just wait until the iPhone 4 goes on sale in China. How about a three-month waiting list?

I have been working on a magazine for this whole week (Quark Xpress v6) and finally got it signed off yesterday. Shut down the computer and had a well earned drink.
When I turned on the computer this morning the document has reverted back to last Tuesday! (meaning a lot of lost work).
Would this have anything to do with changing permissions? (I did play around with file info on some other files.)
I have 15 other jobs going and they all seem to be fine.
I have dual 80gb hard drives - and yes, after every big lot of changes I backed up the job - but the backup drive says the same!! Anyone with any help would be greatly appreciated.

4.3.1 didn't bring much but 4.3 brought improvements on AirPlay, safar, added home sharing options, iPad sloder switch option, and added the hotspot feature.
http://www.apple.com/ios/
Well, it didn't add the hot spot feature for the iPad. But yeah, I'm gonna hold off, nothing really of interest.

Turns out I never should have been required to purchase a data plan from Verizon in the first place. Data plans are only mandatory for verizon on phones introduced after 2009. Palm Centro was released in 2008 (and available on ebay for a very reasonable cost). I asked specifically not to have a data plan when I called to activate, and was told I had to purchase one in order to activate the phone. Apparently their reps are not well informed about their company's policy. I discovered this only after reading another consumer forum after 2 years of paying for the data plan. I am pretty irritated at having spent so much money unnecessarily. If you go this route you will likely told you need a data plan to use Palm Centro on Verizon - not so. Ask to speak with a supervisor until you get them to activate without data plan.
This phone works for me because it is so easy to sync my calendar and contacts using missing sync. What I really needed was a mac syncing qwerty PDA with a phone. This fits the bill as it seems few CMDA phones do.

remove the cube from its shell
place a sticky note where the power switch would be on the inside of the shell
replace the cube in its shell
turn it on
no mpre problem
for added fun, experiment with different colors of stickies to change the color of your power light (yellow and blue make ....)

I'm excited to get my MacBook Pro (probably this week) and start on it...although the F@H website does not have an Intel version yet.
Would it be possible to run the Linux version on your MBP? Linux and BSD (Which Mac OS X is based on) are very similar.

Just to help others in the future, which exact two models do you have? Many people from time to time ask this question so it will be nice to know once and for all a BD burner that has no problems in a Mac Pro.

That's really too bad. Is there some reason I'm not aware of that they can't send 100%? I can't imagine why anyone would not donate directly after learning that.

I thought about the Air, especially considering I'll be buying an SSD to replace the HDD in the MBP, however the 4GB of RAM and the older Core 2 Duo processors kinda scared me away. Now if the MBA has a refresh before we get back in July I'll definitely look into it...
As was your +1 for the $1199 13" or $1499 13"
Aaron
The updated Air may be available around the time you get back home, so that might be an option to consider.
And thank you for serving. It is appreciated and I wish you a safe trip back home.
